Richard Cornish
Food Writer and Presenter
Richard Cornish is an award-winning food writer, author and radio personality. He has written for The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald food sections for more than 25 years. You’ll hear him on ABC Radio and bump into him at farmers’ markets and food events across the country.
Born on a dairy farm, he planted his first vegetable garden at the age of five and today continues to grow vegetables and fruit in his urban backyard. A devoted fan of garlic, Richard has spent years talking to growers, sellers, cooks and chefs, exploring how it is grown, how it is cooked, and the folklore and stories that surround this remarkable bulb.
Richard has written six books on Spanish food, including the MoVida series, as well as My Year Without Meat and Brain Food, and he co-authored Phillippa’s Home Baking. He is very much looking forward to taking part in the 2026 South Gippsland Garlic Festival.
